Nitro Foil

Description

This 1.5m foil stunt kite is a great introduction to frameless flying. Ideal for younger flyers to learn to control a power kite. The Nitro is very meaneavureable and has good pull for a small kite. Flys well in a wide wind range and, unlike it’s bigger sibling the Addict, it doesn’t get too powerful as the wind picks up. It’s great for basic power jumping (try it on the sand dunes at Fraser Island!) and it’s good for travellers….it fits in your pocket.

Foil stunt kites like the Nitro fly because their cells or pockets fill with air creating a wing shape that generated lift so the kite moves through the sky like an airplane wing. This makes the kite quick through the sky and also makes it quite powerful as the wind gets a little stronger.

Note: The lines with this kite are twisted nylon, these are ‘ordinary’ regular kite lines. We do this to keep the price down but if you want much better performance from your Nitro, I’d suggest investing in a pair of 80lb Braided Dacron lines or, even better, a set of 150lb Spectra Lines. Because these are both braided or woven lines so they have a lot less stretch so you kite becomes a lot more responsive. Give me a call or email me if you’d like some more details.

Foil stunt kites, often called Parafoils (or Powerfoils) are just like parasailers. They fly because sewn pockets fill with air to give the kite it’s shape & they steer with bridle lines, just like a rigid dual line kite. They are extremely powerful and definitely not for younger children.
