Addict power kite
Medium size powerfoil – lots of pull
Don’t get this as a first kite!
- Winds: Medium to Fresh
- Size: 2.4 metre wingspan
- Ages: Teenagers and adults
This 2.4m Addict two string power foil is a multi celled foil that flys, like a parachute, by filling with air to create a wing similar to an airplane wing. This generates lots of ‘lift’ and as it moves it creates heaps of power, enough to drag you along the sand or grass! The Addict power foil can be a nice sedate kite to fly in lighter winds but as the wind picks up a little it turns into a powerful beast!. So, our first hint is to learn to fly in light winds because if you’re out there is 15 knots it’s too late to learn to fly. An excellent trainer kite for wind surfers (it teaches you how to handle power before you strap on a harness.) or just good ol’ dig-your-heels-into-the-sand-and-hold-on kite flying.
Because foils have no frame they are often described as ‘unbreakable’ but this is a bit misleading. True, they won’t ‘break’ as such but they can tear or more commonly rip a seam open at the stitching. This can occur if you crash flat on the front (leading) edge so if you are going to crash try to ‘roll’ the kite down rather then let it slam full on with the front edge.
Kite Type: Parafoils (or Powerfoils)
like this 2.4m Addict two string power foil are just like parasailers. They fly because sewn pockets fill with air to give the kite it’s shape & they steer with bridle lines, just like a rigid dual line kite. Like it’s big brother the Calibre, the Addict is extremely powerful and generated enormous pull as the wind picks up. This is definitely not for children.
